PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The recent sanctions against Penn State University and its football program have left many people upset and some have decided to take their frustrations out on the NCAA.
The Student Bookstore, an independent Penn State store just off campus, is selling t-shirts dubbed the “NCAA Overstepping” shirt.
What has caught people’s attention is that the front of the shirt reads: “NCAA National Communist Athletic Association,” with the “C” designed to look like the Communist symbol.
The back of the shirt adds to that with “Overstepping Their Bounds And Punishing The Innocent.”
According to the Student Bookstore, the shirts have been on sale at the store and on its website for a few weeks. However, they recently caught the attention of many after Onward State, an independent student-run Penn State blog, posted a photo of the shirt on its Twitter and Facebook accounts.
The shirts come in the wake of the sanctions imposed by the NCAA in light of the Jerry Sandusky child abuse case. On July 23, the NCAA hit Penn State with a $60 million fine, a four-year football postseason ban and a vacation of all wins dating back to 1998.
The Student Bookstore is not affiliated with Penn State University.
